I heard that you should only use shampoo and conditioner once a week. It sounds like commie bullshit, but weirdly, I’ve noticed that when I use shampoo, I get white flakes in my hair. When I don’t, it gets greasy. Is this shampoo thing real, and how does it work? What shampoo should I be using?

It's stripping your hair of the natural oils, so it's not something you should be using daily.

2-3x per week is ideal, with the caveat below in mind.

It depends on your hair type, alongside what product is being used.

shampoo frequency depends on ur hairtype

if u have straight u will have to shampoo more often

if curly then 2-3x a week

also u prolly got dandruff

and its greasy cus u prolly putting conditioner wrong if u are, only apply conditioner at the ends not root for ur hair

shampoo = apply on scalp
conditioner - apply on ends of the hair

elaborate
Straight hair gets oily faster because oil travels down a straight line much easier than a wavy or curly one. The hair shaft acts like an open highway, so scalp oils slide right down to the ends without stopping

curly hair is often thick so its easily prone to being dry since it needs moisture much more than fine straight hair
