I feel like having aspergers means you lack social skills, but i feel like you can be NT and still lack those skills.

I've been diagnosed with add in the past, idk how this affects it.

I have aspergers and had friends and social skills when I was a kid, but I still did some pretty inconsiderate dumb things due to the autism and had and have obsessive interests, but my lack of social skills largely stems from my inability to properly make and keep relations with people due to the aspergers and so isolation for years in my teens. Puberty and growing up was brutal when I have aspergers ngl, made life ten times harder. As a kid you do dumb low-inhib stuff, but when puberty hits, you realize you are different from other kids. Keeping friendships has always been a struggle for me, so I am surprised I even had friends as a kid. I’m not a crybaby, I’m just aware of how aspergers has affected me in life after getting diagnosed

Being Aspie and having poor social skills are two different things. You can improve your social skills but aspergers affects how your brain is wired. You can't cure aspbergers.

I did these things when I was a kid, like people insulted me or teased me and then I’d cry and fight them. And my best friend was confirmed aspie. As a kid I had obsessive interests, but now maybe the only thing I’m consistently interested in is looking better, but not every conversation revolves around that.

See, I can chat people up, and make them like me, but I don’t know how to maintain or keep that friendship after awhile even though I want to. Like I’ll think I want to text or call someone, but for some reason I tell myself they don’t want to talk to me, or that they’ll think I’m gay for texting them randomly, but it’s gotten better

Same, I am very emotionally numbed down and feel like I have to fake emotions when interacting with normies. Like I will laugh and smile, but feel dead inside at the same time instead of feeling funny/happy.

All because of shit childhood with parents fighting non-stop, non-stop screaming and emotional abuse etc. Brutal.

not sure. That's why I always say we need to talk more about 'nt'. Better define it in practical terms and go into more detail.

People here are like 'He's got tattoos. That means he's NT'. They're not scratching the surface!

Some people are really confident and extroverted, but they also have 'weird' and kind of 'quirky' personalities. (of course, if they're good looking too, girls say 'he's got an amazing personality!', but others would say his 'weirdness' makes him no NT)

There's things like social anxiety, and add, and depression and other stuff too which some would say defines not being NT. Others say only autism counts. But there still seems to be some middle ground. Does having lots of male friends make you NT?

He had good social skills, pretty NT, low inhib but OFC aspie tendencies like sometimes overtaking the conversation and not letting other person have a word, especially when the topic was about his interestyet he was really good listener. Nope. Will stay the same. You will only lose that feeling once you actually care for the Person. That’s why some people are build for relationships and not for slaying. Cuz slaying feels empty to them. Finding that person you connect with is hard. So you try to keep her. Same can be applied for friendships.
