Yeah, but it takes time. If the change is really drastic, I'd assume people adjust faster since their brain has to rebuild its model of you.

Every minutia detail that is picked up by someone that you're in a relationship with/have known for a long time concretes how they view you. How someone else perceives you can't be changed unless drawn out over significant periods of time and typically the results are negative.
