I often hear a rest day is essential to optimize muscle hypertrophy but i have never seen any source of research which proves this. To me it sounds like cope from lazy people.

yes exactly. Ive done the most progress of my friends the last year and gym everyday. PPL also makes gives every muscle group roughly 48 hours to rest. I dont understand how it would benefit to add a rest day to that.hypertrophy is poorly understood and the mechanisms vary completely between individuals.
even if all the participates responded better to more rest, that doesn't mean you will.
I have many friends who follow carefully planned science based™ routines for maximum efficiency, accurately track their macros, get plenty of rest, and have a coach overseeing all of it that still make less progress than I do chucking a bar above my head once a week and eating whatever I want.
u dont need a rest day for PPL. thats the whole point of it. that advice is for people who do full body.yes exactly. Ive done the most progress of my friends the last year and gym everyday. just listen to your body, if you go to workout and your muscles are still shaky or you can only do 2-3 reps youre training that group too early again, its different for everyone but ive found creatine speeds up my recoveryI often hear a rest day is essential to optimize muscle hypertrophy but i have never seen any source of research which proves this.
