Based on what ive heard you only get the complications and ive never seen any results of peoples masaters getting noticably bigger

It is a muscle, and as a muscle it can be overworked or underworked. And from these two circumstances it can grow (generating muscular hypertrophy from exercise or chewing) or it can decrease (generating muscular hypotrophy, from not chewing food).


For example, there is a medical condition called masseter hypertrophy, which consists of having the masseter muscle on one side of the mouth overworked, people have surgery to eliminate that asymmetry.

You also have the other extreme, a person with paralysis who cannot chew, has no jaw muscle, and therefore the only thing that defines their jaw is bone.
