If you browse Reddit, you’ll come across people like that, either NEETs or stuck in dead-end jobs well into their 30s. It’s a miserable existence. It’s no surprise some of them turn to drugs or alcohol to escape reality, on top of whatever else they do to waste time. If you’re in that position, it’s worth making a change before things get worse. That kind of lifestyle rarely ends well.

It doesn’t matter if you’re good at something if it’s not something that society highly values (i.e. gives you Money or Status). There is no intrinsic value in being good at things so you can easily be a polymath and a good-for-nothingcel at the same time if the set of skills you have is worthless.
