Is there any point in lifting weights while losing weight as a complete newbie?

I’m currently 19% bf and doing OMAD and 10k steps daily until I get to 12% bf and then I will start lifting weights because when I tried lifting weights with my current diet I barely saw any progress cause of such a large deficit obviously which was demotivating and caused me to increase my calories so I could be in a smaller deficit which would also slow down the cut massively and still yield slow gains since I would still be in a small deficit

Feel like it’d be better just to get to 12% then do clean bulk. Lifting was so much more fun when I was bulking and adding 5lbs to the bar every week a few years ago but now I lost the muscle and I’m back at square one and just wanna cut and cardiomax first. I feel like trying to maximize newbie gains on a cut is ass unless ur obese

Thoughts?

Only replying to the title didn't read the paragraphs, in short yes because you can still build muscle on a cut

Yeah but in the post in explain how I barely see any progress in my lifts with OMAD. And even in a smaller deficit I still see little to no progress. I feel like it’s better to wait until I can bulk

maybe your programming sucks for cutting. Maybe you have too much volume and that's why you can't progress on a cut.
This is very useful guide to exercises that also has some programming guidelines for novices at the end. Maybe you could progress better doing this.
