Is there any point in weight training during a caloric deficit of about 500 per day?

Ideally, I want to gain muscle while losing fat. Bare minimum, I want to maintain my muscle while losing fat.
 
Yeah, you are likely to maintain muscle if you eat lean and have good hormonal profile

Try and keep muscle protein synthesis high while limiting the kind of damage that would cause hypertrophy as that’s not really possible on a hard cut and your body will fail to repair the damage.

For example 1 set of each body part with 2-3 reps in reserve, every other day.
 
Yes have you seen construction workers?
 
Just do maintenance Volume during cut. 6 sets for everything per week
