ppl say “i would die for you” and shit like that in movies and stuff all the time but i doubt many people would die for someone else. I would unironically rather have a million people die rather than die myself. A billion people, even. I wouldn’t kill others to benefit myself, but i would never die myself to save others.


At the same time, i would proudly fight in a war, and if a civil war broke out, i would be on the frontlines killing and risking my life. So i would be willing to risk my life for a cause or my country, or if there were benefits to me, and it wasnt a guaranteed death, but i don’t think there is anyone i would even consider giving up my life to save.

I should only care about things that are happening in my POV. When im dead there's nothing. Your life is singlehandedly the most important thing in, well, your life.

Say you cure cancer but die afterwards.. You won't even be satisfied. You can't see anyone being cured, you can't see people admiring you and what you discovered, you can't see the whole world benefitting from your invention, because you're fucking dead, there's nothing, so what was the entire point. Humans live for themselves.

There are some people that look at the grand scheme of things and care about the well being of the entire human race or atleast the people that they care about. But if it came down to it, they'd always be regretful of a decision to 'die for someone' (if we ignore the realistic scenario that they can't even regret lol). And yes, i care about people and i want them to have the best life possible, but i also want to be alive myself.

Very well said honestly, this is a tough one because I can both see this and the fact that something could matter even if I wouldn't be "there to see it". The value of an action imo comes from what it creates, not necessarily my ability to experience it (in this specific scenario ofc). So I'd still save my brother
