Some time back I was with smth for a family friend.

In the end she was giving me money as thanks. I was like "Thank You" and took it.

But apparently for normies you need to be like "muhh I can't accept this" and then they say "No, I insist" and you need to be like "no I don't need it" for several rounds until you finally say "okay, I accept it"

Does it appear autistic when you just take the money and don't say anything but thank you`?

it is considered rude, but I think that’s purely cultural. If you actually take the situation for what is, It doesn’t really give the impression of them owing you imo, just that you accepted without the whole song and dance, but are still grateful. However, society has deemed this insufficient over the years.

Maybe, if they literally underpaid me I'd say that, but I never did anything that can be called work so I wouldn't know how I'd really react.
