One of my exes had a boyfriend who was really desperate and constantly threatened her that he'll commit suicide if she dumps him. She was like: "OMG, he loves me so much, I just can't leave him, he will kill himself!". She treated him like crap but seemed kinda proud that a guy loves her so much and felt like a saviour doing a good cause, her mere existence allowed her boyfriend to live.
Anyway, she still dumped him and started a relationship with me, after she cheated on him for several months, but she would constantly remind me how much that previous guy loved her, would do anything for her, and was even ready to die for her, but me on the other hand was somehow not good enough for her or didn't love her enough if I wouldn't want to kill myself for her, anyway - it was one shit test after another.

The point is that even if somehow guilt-trip her to accept you, it will be a very strained relationship, and she'll use every opportunity to exploit you and treat you like crap, and you are supposed to just take it because you claimed you would even kill yourself for her.
