His time was a hell of a lot more rough than ours. Even for an aristocrat it's not even close. Try spending 3 weeks in the Tower of London at 18 then go on to command armies and later develop a reputation as a brawler/rake at court. Most genuine tough guys who are alive today would piss their pants at the real prospect of being thrust into 17th century European court. Not to mention having previously being locked up by the king. Their blood would definitely run cold.

HIs time reflected brute nature more at harmony with civilization. Nowdays our relationship with nature is is less natural because civilization has become a monster. While encompassing nature in all ways to a certain degree, nature by definition can never go away. While ivilization, regardless of what a juggernaut it has become can only ever be temporal.

The times you describe where men were running around eating raw things in forests were more brutish and "smelly" than I am.

I don't know man. But despite his facial structure he most likely had much higher T than the modern average. And for all we know he could have been more robust looking than this but depicted as more "harmless/safe" looking to fit the artistic trend of the time
