Recently, I came up with a philosophical question that goes like this: “If your personality, beliefs, and values constantly change, are you ever yourself?”
If not, then who are you? If yes, then how can you be yourself if your personality, beliefs, and values constantly change? You from a few years ago might be nothing like you today, meaning that the old you was never you and that the present you isn’t you either, since you will change in the future. You may call the present you yourself now, but will you still call this you yourself in the future? Probably not, since you called your past self “you,” and now you are nothing like your past self.
I don’t know, maybe I’m overthinking. I’m not even into philosophy; I just saw a few TikTok edits and this question suddenly popped into my mind. So don’t take it too seriously, but think about it.
