conceptually its not actually cope at all. Its application is total cope though. thumb pulling is supposed to provide the same results as a marpe device by replicating the type of pressure and overall effects of the device. However, you are almost definitely not going to expand your palate or alter your sutures from pushing the roof of your mouth with your hands.
