i wouldnt like to compete just to be able to defend myself against the average joe

ive trained boxing for nearly three years and recently started to compete and never have i ever had to worry about gettin in a fight but you will be able to defend yourself after 6 months to a year pretty easily maybe its a bit overkill considering 99% of men are untrained

If you can find a gym that has non retarded coach and goers amd does light sparring. Pro tip: you can't. They are almost all a bunch of low iq niggers that want to prove how tough they are and will try to take your head off in sparring.

I have friends that went to mma gyms and they all say the same. And its not about being a pussy its about saving your brain from needless damage and making better progress, the best coaches today agree light sparring is the way to learn. It is like playing and we have evolved to learn from play. When your adrenaline and cortisol spike because a brain damaged retard is trying to knock you out you can't learn shit your brain shuts down and you learn nothing.
