One thing that I've noticed is that people seem much taller with turbans on. Even if they're at eye level with you, the turban on their head gives the illusion of extra height. I recall the other day I was biking to the library and an Indian man walked up to me and started asking me something in Punjabi or some language. He was several inches shorter than me but with his turban he was taller than me. Here, he is about the height of his wife but looks much taller than he actually is.
