As another pointed out alcohol is still sold too, even though it is one of the most harmful(neurotoxic, hepatotoxic, nephrotoxic etc), and potentially dangerous (very low recreational to death index). No other common drug is as harmful to the body as ethanol in large amounts.

Those products are being taxed very heavily tho. But tobacco is more gentle and you need to be using for a very long time to cause significant harm.

I guess the only reason they are legal is because of traditions
