If you think about, in everything in life, the top 5% or even top 1% or less are the only people who truly succeed in that thing.
Look at any sports team, even the worst player in that team is still probably top 1% of players in that sport. Most singers are probably top 1%, most scientific discoveries were probably made by the top 1% smartest people in that field.
Even if you think about height, many people here say the 'ideal' height is 6'3. In the United States, that height is the top 3% of people, worlwide it is probably closer to 1% since the US is a tall country.
So when people here say that hypergamy is at 80/20, or that it has reached 95/5, it makes sense. In almost everything in life if you aren't the top 1% or the top 5% at least you really have no chance. I don't say this to discourage people from trying, I think you should always try even if you are not top %, but I think it is something we need to understand.
The purpose here is to be a wake up call to people like me who think they will suddenly become attractive just because they became 'slightly' average. Sure it would be better than what it is rn, but realistically most 'slayers' are top 1% or at least top 5%. It is the same with everything in life.
