On July 19, 2026, a tragic incident unfolded under the blistering sun of Bologna, Italy. Abderrahim Fakir, a 42-year-old Moroccan businessman, was suffering a severe mental health crisis in his neighborhood. Terrified and confused, he began acting erratically, prompting neighbors to call for help. When the police arrived, the situation quickly spiraled out of control.Officers deployed pepper spray and forced Fakir face-down onto the scorching asphalt. As two officers and a passerby pinned him down, a neighbor filmed the encounter. In the video, Fakir, who suffered from asthma, can be heard crying out, "I can't breathe!"His pleas went unheeded. By the time emergency workers were allowed to step in, Fakir had stopped moving. He died on the pavement, sparking nationwide outrage, fierce protests, and a major investigation into police brutality.
