Not in the west but definitely in Islamic countries. Everyone lived together: grandmother, grandfather, uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters, cousins - all in one, decently-sized house. They would take out their beds and bring it to the open air and lay there, talking to each other, talking about life, family, et cetera. It was very tight-knit. In my native place, people lived in separate houses but it was an open field. Houses weren’t separated by walls. The love was real back then. Even your friends were like family back then. Nowadays your family nor your friends are nowhere as close. Times have changed a lot for certain people.
