TL,DR AT THE END
if you’re a lazy faggot

i have always been a huge music fan. i always wanted to listen to the weirdest shit out there, and if it wasn’t enough i’d find a weirder underground norwegian 47 minute song to listen to.

girls always made fun of me; “what the hell is that music taste, eww you have to stop listening to that”, etc. basically my music taste was disgusting.
or was it the music taste that was disgusting?

i have ascended a bit. june spotify wrapped just came out, i sent it to a couple girls and they were like: “wow, i love how you listen to very weird stuff, it has so much aura”.

i am currently listening to the weirdest shit (ofc compared to the stuff these foids listen to: latin urban, bbc drake, travis scott etc.), and if any foid saw that i was listening to this a year ago she would’ve thrown up on the spot.

TL,DR:

(this is not a weird/niche album in general, but it is in normie surroundings, that’s why i’m using it as an example)

I love Willyrodriguezwastaken and Revisited is by far my favorite song of theirs too lol. I wanted to make a bp using the part starting at 0:48 of the title track, but I've never edited before, and I don't have enough storage on my phone:forcedsmile:

That has yet to happen to me ngl but I've never really sent much to girls with romantic intent either. I usually don't like sharing my favorite artists with girls bc I don't want to think of them everytime I listen to the songs. There are like 10 songs that are completely ruined for me fs. Every time I've shared something that I actually listen to regularly rather than something that I kinda like and is socially acceptable, they hate it. Often times they don't even consider it to be music:hnghn: The benefit of being a musiccel is that you can easily larp their music taste. Like, yeah, I've heard Brent Faiyaz, SZA, and Jeff Buckley:lul: The strat is to let them tell you their music taste before you do. You can easily hold a convo about their favorite artists, but they usually can't comprehend some of the shit you listen to (that sounds pretentious af but most can't even bear 10 minutes of Japanese noise rock)

High IQ thread

Ive known about halo effect for over 5 years and have never drawn this connection

Im like you OP, i was made fun of for my music taste and loved more experimental music. Since people always shit on me for it, I grew self-conscious and then just hid it from friends (ignoring one or two) and family. Whenever someone would ask me what im listening to i wouldnt answer, and id never play music out loud only on headphones.

Even though ive ascended im still an abused dog when it comes to my music taste and hide it in whatever way i can. I didnt reaize this is mostly halo effect at work. Interesting, ill have to think more about this

yeah but thats cuck behavior imo, i’ve been having unique music taste since like 11 (unique doesnt mean good it was just that no one else listened to that) and i have never been scared enought to larp it, but it is annoying that people turn off the complex 40 minute prog rock song cuz its bad and proceed to put bad bunny :lul:
Japanese noise rock

the best non-music music is noise imo. going places by yellow swans and that one gerogerigegege self titled song are so good

Well yeah it's sorta cuck behavior but it's all context dependent yk. Sometimes you just need to get along with someone, and it's better to larp your way out of it. As long as you're not looking for a wife, then I'd consider doing it occationally. A girl started being way nicer to me after we conversated about Artic Monkeys:lul: I don't even like the band, but I found my inner middle school self to keep the convo going.

i’ve been having unique music taste since like 11
I was listening to drill when I was that age and a little older:lul: Holy conformity

The Gerogerigegege self-titled is genuinely one of my top 30 songs ever. I don't think it's considered harsh noise, however. For it to be harsh noise as a genre, doesn't it need to be structureless? It has a lot of music theory underneath the wall of sound, but idk how strict the definition is. I also don't care about labels that much; they're just nice for finding other similar artists. I'm personally not that into pure noise, but most of my favorite music incorporates it a lot. I love The Gerogerigegege, but I don't enjoy their pure harsh noise that much. I don't despise it, but I would never put it on tbh. I have enjoyed other noisy albums like Consume Red and Sinner Get Ready, but neither of those is strictly noise. It's kinda similar to how Swans don't make drone music, but they make very drony post-rock.

but most people i know dont consider it music lmao

Lol yeah. Idk why, but I hate most metal screaming. I don't mind screaming in general, but there's something about the way most metal artists do it. I listened to some thall recently, and the screaming felt really performative. Burzum is about as far as I'm willing to go with screaming, even though I generally enjoy metal's instrumentation.

anyway this is my june wrapped thought i’d share it because thats what the thread is about
