Its almost going to be a year since I've been in a proper LTR. This was my very first relationship. I got my first gf at 21 which is quite late. Was this close to giving up on ever finding one but I got an amazing partner. I am very grateful for her and I still love her just as much as I did 1 year ago. May our relationship continue to flourish and be fulfilling for both of us.

You should have proposed to her after 4-6 months to secure her if things were really going well (I saw the picture of you, she's physically beautiful enough for you, so you should just rush things by default because of that alone)

A year is quite a long time, and from this point inside her, questions will start to arise about you, about how "serious" you really are about this relationship, about you as a couple and if you really have a real future together, because after a year, it's very easy to make two, or three, without anything special happening, you'll just get even more into the routine and accustomed to the status quo, and that's a big mistake that a lot of couples make..

And this happens because the man doesn't want to propose, and he's doing this out of some real systemic problems in the relationship, out of some real grievances that can't be overcome with just "let's talk / let's have sex"

You are now falling into the trap of waiting for her to change, thinking that the ball of time is in her court, and it is her responsibility to dance as you sing to her, but she will not change, and as the months and years pass, you will start to change as you mature/get bored of each other at some point, and the breakup will be inevitable..

A good girl and a healthy relationship are secured in a maximum of 6 months, and by doing this first of all you are also satisfying the woman psychologically, and making her become even more attached to you and to know and believe that officially she is only yours, and that you really want her

Postponement / delay on the other hand erodes the relationship, makes her doubt things and look for alternatives in men who promise her a more real commitment.. :veryCat:

She has flirted with that idea to me about our future and stuff. I wouldn't want to take a decision in haste and I also don't know where I will be in the next few years. Its not that I am not serious but I have high career aspirations and making a hasty decision before stability doesn't make sense. She is very supportive of my aspirations but I can't make a lifelong commitment when even I don't know where my life is headed.

Nigga, your professional life, your education, whatever it is, has nothing to do with your love life. They are 2 totally separate things

As we speak, there are niggas who get married at 14 (you think they know what their future will look like)

Or niggas who don't know what they're going to eat tomorrow, but they have a big, beautiful family, married with 8 kids, and from the little they have, regardless of their financial situation, they make the most of it and they're happy and it doesn't affect their love life

What you do with your personal life, with love, with your relationship has nothing to do with your professional life

(the couple/relationship can move across seas and oceans if it's necessary from a professional point of view, it's not an obstacle, these are just puerile excuses for you not to commit to her)

The vast majority of the population first secures their marriage / relationship / having children, as it is optimal to be as early as possible, in their early 20s, and only then in their late 20s / early 30s do they stabilize / peak their professional life

(that's why healthy relationships start either in high school, or later in university, which quickly lead to marriage, and only after a few years do you also have stability and predictability on a professional level)

I have a 26-year-old friend who is single, a virgin, and works shifts at a multinational comoany..

All of his colleagues in their early 30s who recently got hired there already have kids in kindergarten. Guess what they said to him when they found out he was still single:

"Dude, you should have gotten hired at this job after you were already in a relationship, not before, because now because of him, from stress and responsibility, you don't have the time and energy to find women. You should have already had a relationship before you got hired"

In life, all things must be done at the time they are supposed to be done. You didn't postpone finishing kindergarten because "I'm not ready for school," you just did it naturally, as part of the process of life. Predictability and certainty will never be, or will only be illusory, and whatever it is, it shouldn't stop you from doing things in your love life

There's a reality TV show in my country called "The Bride" where niggas between 21 and 29 years old come for 6 months in a sterile, isolated environment, like a prison, 10 single guys and 10 single girls, to get to know each other, with the goal of getting married at the end of the 6 months (obviously, during the 6 months they don't work / quit their jobs)

Guess what, 80% of them were always, every season, either in insecure, unstable jobs, or simply still unemployed, being in university or shit, but guess what, that didn't stop them or shouldn't stop them from finding the love of their lives, because they know that after they leave the show, they can find work without any problems, one way or another, and their lives can go on..

The idea is simple, stop making excuses. I'm telling you, if you really and truly liked this girl, you could have been in the slums of Mumbai earning money by scavenging in dumpsters, you would still have done everything in your power to marry her as soon as possible..
