I always thought it was more like a meme. Everyone has depression, as it seems to be "cool" to say how much you suffer (and it definitely is for many). But I don't think this anymore. It's true, probably around 50% of people are traumatized from their childhood and emotionally broken, meaning they have very unhealthy character traits and are prone to feeling anxious and depressed in large parts of their life.
And the bad thing is: The same people will reproduce and have kids who will be emotionally broken. It's an intergenerational trauma. The solution could be to actually talk with their parents, try to solve their childhood trauma and get through the stages of grief, ending with acceptance and moving on. But people rather choose to tell themselves "It's a chemical imbalance" (jfl), take antidepressiva and traumatize their own kids later in life.
Case in point: This forum. Full of emotionally broken people who want to have kids for them to become Chads (jfl) as a way to overcome their own traumas. I'm not even saying you shouldn't try it, I'm just saying you should probably fix your mental health before thinking of reproducing.
