I went in unprepared. I did prep in the form of creating a PowerPoint. But that’s as far as lesson planning went. It was a conscious decision on my part; if I do this at my worst, then I can only get better from here.

I taught two classes and this was my third time with them. Personally, I think I did horrible. The students and mentor teacher were a lot more positive, saying I did a good job. They even started applauding at the end. Bless them, they’re too kind.

In both classes, at the end I would have a set of students come up to me and tell me nice things. Either about me as a teacher or saying they liked my PowerPoint design. These four students didn’t interact with me before nor did I interact with them, so while it was unexpected, it was also very nice.

Before I taught the second class.. One of the students said to the teacher “I want to sit next to Ghost!” And the teacher corrected him, saying “That’s Mr. Ghost for you.” I didn’t want to overstep as it’s their class so I didn’t say anything, but I don’t mind the students calling me by my first name. I won’t tell them that though as I don’t want to undermine the main teacher’s authority.

Thanks! Now I feel like a real teacher haha. And OK, I will! What kind of update should I give? My current task is creating a grammar mock exam for them, but the mentor teacher said it’s fine if I am unable to do so. I’m gonna try.

Improvements, comfortability's, change, etc

Also if bp or lm terminology is at use in your surroundings, quite interesting if you'd ask me!

Best of luck though

Ahh, gotcha! Thanks for elaborating. Yeah, sounds good! I’ll do that. Tbh, I don’t think I’ll hear any BP/LM terminology since they’re 7th grade students in a non-English-speaking country. It’d likely be different in America or another English-speaking country. I see that teachers online are complaining about their male students being “misogynists” and the like because they follow figures like Tate or they make Epstein island references. I haven’t heard anything like this at my placement (it’s a high school, there’s no middle schools here, 7-12).

It's unpaid because it's an internship. You can't work here as a teacher without a license. We don't even have subs here. At least in the US you can start subbing which means you don't even need a degree to teach IIRC, or at least not a teaching degree. But that's not the case here. Any "sub" here is another licensed teacher filling in for their colleague as the same school.

It's mandatory, there's no other way around it. I don't mind though, it's all about the experience.

As a student, i really hate it when the teacher thinks we dumb by saying ohhh this is so easy, this highers the pressure of saying something correct, if u fail u lose all your confidence, really hard to be a good teach ngl, so many things u need to be careful of
only had 1 or 2 i would consider good
