Hinge's algorithm uses an elo system , so just by changing your race to black , the algorithm already plummets your ELO as it sees it as less desirable race and that you won't be compatible with most of the profiles on HInge. Remember this guys looks and height stayed the same , all he changed was his race and hid it so it isn't on display , thus a FOID won't get confused with the juxtaposition.

If Hinge are decreasing black ELO its because the algorithm believes that they are incompatible with most women or that they do not want to match with blacks , thousands of data points that show the probability of being black and rejected is much higher than if they were white. Thus, they preemptively decrease their ELO so they are in a decreased ELO pool to get matches.

Furthermore , the no.1 priority is profit they know that ethnics typically purchase premium and roses , so they make it harder for them to get matches so they spend money on the premium features. I know white HTNs who have 100 plus likes on base subscription , whilst I received 0 as an ethnic, only after I paid I did kind ok.

Dating apps literally stopped publishing ethnicity data for this very reason, as it unveils a uncomfortable truth that ethnics are the money makers and struggle massively on apps.
