You can't fall for the war propaganda. Everybody thinks that because somehow Russia didn't take Ukraine in 35 days like how america did in the 2003 invasion of Iraq their somehow losing badly. The reason is the goals are different. The goal is to likely annex ukraine to russian territory and it has to be done without killing the civilian population so that way when their annexed their isn't a revolution like in 2014. So to do that they have to be more careful and avoid going full send and bombing everything in their paths as many civilians would die.

Russia did under estimate ukraine in their will to defend themselves , and you correctly mentioned the corruption and the fact that putin inner circle was a bunch of yes men who likely lied about the competency of the military capabilities.

That being said Russia gets a billion $ a day from their natural gas sales, and considering the technology is about the same on both sides its now turned to attrition warfare, and NATO and other countries aren't sending them the good stuff. Most of the tanks have been destroyed and now russia isn't deploying them as much, so any advantage from the javelins are gone.

Now its just going to be who can surive till the last man, and russia is likely going to win in the long run.

Russia has had to pull out from the Northern Ukraine and now tries to concentrate it's forces in the eastern border to secure even a marginal victory. They were relying on Ukrainians not organizing a resistance and the army surrendering as soon as fighting begun, that didn't happen and now they're in trouble. Ukraine is mobilizing the masses and frankly it's not looking good for Russia unless they're able to mobilize significantly more men.
