You greatly overestimate how many people actually looksmax, let alone how many get noticeable results. Besides, this trend was bound to happen anyway. With stronger social safety nets, those who are genetically unfortunate don't leave the gene pool to the same extent—that's why intelligence is dropping. Intelligence correlates with looks to some extent, so you could deduce that a similar pattern is likely happening with genes related to facial aesthetics.
