Russia has a naval base in Tartus, Syria, and is Russia's only warm water port outside its borders. Even with Turkish opposition Russia has entrenched itself in Syria and already has access to the Mediterranean.

Russias bases are still staying in syria btw, they are on the alawite coast, people who like russia and assad, if they are told to be kicked out russia could just say no ,and the local people will help them in any attempts to take back the bases.

Imo Russias here to stay for the long term and are very self sufficient and can find other routes. Lets say Trump defends taiwan from china, and then chinas economy collapses, and usa pummels china with airstrikes and mass unrest happens (probably will never ever happen but lets say in this scenario it does).
