I’m sorry man, the problem isn’t necessarily with actual social skills, but rather the fact that they aren’t automatic to you, autism triggers this uncanny valley skinwalker feeling in non autists, everything you do, no matter how hard you mask, reads as “off” and “dangerous” you can improve for sure, I’m not saying you’re just completely fucked in terms of living a normal life, but you essentially have massive signs all over your body saying “I AM NOT NORMAL, DO NOT TRUST OR LIKE ME”

Yes I can tell if someone is autistic usually just by the way they move and speak, has nothing to do with being nice, although I have adhd and grew up with a lot of autist friends so I know a fair bit about how others perceive the condition. It’s literally the largest social debuff you can have

I thought I was on the spectrum too, but was actually told by 2 different reputable institutions that I don’t have it. I have some autism like traits, but the core social dysfunction and weird uncanny valley traits are things I don’t have. I’m just under socialized and my social anxiety and adhd can mimic autism like symptoms.

It was actually relieving to hear, because it means that I just need to expose myself more and socialize, people actually do like me when I try but I always get too exhausted or self conscious to keep trying to make friends so it ends up going nowhere. Just gotta try harder, but unfortunately if you’re autistic trying harder isn’t really the solution in a lot of cases, hence why i say being “ND” and being autistic ND are completely different

There’s nothing you can do to offset autism, if you have other types of neurodivergence and aren’t autistic you just need to put yourself in social situations more often, people with adhd actually have 2x the amount of sexual partners as NT people on average

Looks don’t compensate for autism, they definitely help if you just have like some anxiety or ADHD or whatever but Autism is a social black hole that destroys everything. When I was socially active and NT in the way i carried myself and communicated even at LTN nobody gave me shit, I had friends, people thought I was trustworthy, etc. most people don’t fall outside the average when it comes to looks which means irl non autistic is just way way way better than autism in every single way

I guess mimicking and practice is the best way to improve , hang around popular people copy what they say and how they say it.
