as far as instrumentation goes, as in production, music has barely even gotten an iota better it skyrocketed from 2010 to 2016 and now is just in purgatory

no great artists consistently drop bangers anymore, all my fav artists fell off for some fucking reason. they all became shit trying to change with the times or whatever theyre trying to do making this shitty fucking experimental bullshit and trying to be unique and different than their old music

soundcloud in particular used to be an abundant zone for producers and listeners alike, the whole community was tight knit together and new crazy weird cool shit was always dropping

maybe i just grew up and its like the southpark episode, everything just looks shitty now because i lost my inspired youth and things arent new anymore but it definitely felt like a crazy shift

when that kid theorized that we actually entered a new timeline because of some weird experiment or whatever the fuck i actually think about it sometimes because like what the fuck happened, im not one to believe schizo theories but its like as soon as i grew up the world just became fucking dogshit

and that view is based on melodic creativity and originality mixed with interesting unique choices for sounds and instruments

still a few artists i like out there, if the same guys made the same music now but in current production id still love it

i used to have like 50 artists in a regular rotation

part of it is definitely nostalgia but objectively my favorite musicians either quit altogether or like i said in post started making weird ass music and changing what didnt need fixing

i already told the other guy, i could name 50 artists right now that i loved in the 2010s that just either quit or changed their style completely
