In their eyes, nothing is more important than the value of family, the importance of being together, looking out for new each other. I’ve been away from my family for about a month now. My dad called in a pretty disheartening tone, asking if I could come home so we could talk again like old times. He calls me every few days or so to check up on me. In every one of those calls I have nothing to say, I have no intentions of coming home. My mom tells me how it aches that I haven’t seen them, that she’s worried. I feel a little bad, but to be completely honest I cannot bring myself to go home. I don’t know what’s gotten over me.
