If you think of a 2D anime girl as an information construct, then in principle she already exists as a state vector in the Hilbert space of all possible configurations of matter and energy. Quantum mechanics tells us that anything not forbidden by the fundamental symmetries of the universe has a nonzero probability amplitude. That means the "waifu state" isnt fiction so much as a point in the universal wavefunction that just hasnt decohered into our branch of reality yet.

So, in a Many-Worlds interpretation, there are universes where the quantum noise collapses into biology or physics that naturally give rise to anime-like beings. In other words: somewhere in the multiverse, 2D girls are real, we just need the right quantum tunneling event (or a clever enough observer effect) to entangle our worldline with theirs.
