Tldr: The old Bulgarians weren't Turkic at all, They were rather Aryan and Caucasian (Kavkaz)

Even if the old Bulgarians were 100% Turkic, that'll still mean nothing cuz old Bulgar dna is low in modern day Bulgarians. Bulgarians are mostly local Europeans from the Balkan region with 10-20% of slavic DNA. Romania, Hungary, Albania have the same levels of slavic too but aren't considered slavic cuz of their language. This whole slavic thing is more about language and culture rather than genealogy
