By far the most immigrants in Japan come from China, Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, etc. Japan doesn't take a lot of refugees, immigrants go there to work or become mail order brides for Japanese guys.

So no, the diversity in Japan isn't the same as in some other places.

Unless they can accelerate the automation and robotics revolution, they will have to welcome immigrants en masse due to their ageing crisis.
