as i said before the average height can increase or decrease in just one generation because of selection for different traits. maybe japanese women selected for men who are high IQ and wealthy instead of men who are tall and handsome. That selection could be motivated by the japanese work culture. In Japan you work for your family and it's seen as a very important trait to make a lot of money.
