@IAMNOTANINCEL

Yeah I can't blame such men. You work so hard for peanuts.

Society has always had two big drivers. Survival and sex/procreation. Survival in the Western world is all but certain for now. Even if you fucked up in the worst way possible you would still be well fed as long as your not on drugs. When you get so little posistive feedback in life what other conclusion can one come to?

Most men do not have fullffilling jobs and little to no social life. Why would you expect someone to work a job they hate then? Unless your a rare autist who has a job you genuinely love then you got no reason to toil away.

Japan isn't special its just ahead of the curve. Japan is just 20 years ahead the hikiomori crisis started in the late 90s-2000s its starting in America and the West now or maybe 10 years ago. I also think another aspect is the shame culture. In America there are less shut ins because even unemployed losers still are apart of society in some way.

In Japan its much more extreme due to the homogeneity and very specific culture you either are completely in society or you are just outside of it. Welcome to the NHK does a good job explaining it. People are scared to even go outside although I think the difference is more people in America will end up violent or on drugs. In Japanese society most people blame themselves. In the West people blame society and hate it the hatred is less directed towards the self

Rotting feels good. You seriously think wageslaving is preferable to rotting?

Well America is already becoming similar. I think Japanese society just developed faster and reached the stage we are in right now. So far no developed society has solved this question. I think ironically it will end up much worse in the West because at least in Japan its high trust. In America there is nothing binding people together besides money when that dries up then people will have nothing stopping them.

The meme of infinite growth via a debt based economy has taken itself to the limit.

Preface
In this world, conspiracies exist. However, there is a more than a ninety-nine percent chance that the plausible-sounding conspiracies that you hear about from others are simple delusions or even intentional lies. When you visit a bookstore, the books with titles like
The Great Jewish Conspiracy to Ruin the Japanese Economy!
or
The Super Conspiracy of the CIA That Hides Their Secret Pact with Aliens!
are all just trivial delusions. Even so... people love conspiracies.
Conspiracies
. We are hopelessly fascinated by the sound of that word and its bittersweet echo. Consider, for example, the process by which
The Jewish Conspiracy
theory comes to be: The author has multiple, terrible complexes and feelings, such as, "Why am I poor?"; "Why is my life not more comfortable?"; "Why can I not find a girlfriend?" His mind and body constantly are pressured, from both within and without. Those pent-up grudges become endless feelings of hatred toward

society. They become rage. However, the largest source of rage is his own personal cowardice. He is poor because he lacks the skill with which to earn money. He has no girlfriend because he lacks charisma. But the process of seeing this truth and acknowledging his own incompetence requires quite a bit of courage. No human beings, regardless of who they might be, want to look directly at their own shortcomings. At this point, the conspiracy theorist projects his cowardice onto the outside world. He creates a fictitious "enemy" outside of himself.
Enemy. My enemy. Society's enemy.
"Because an enemy conspires to do evil, I cannot find happiness. Because of this conspiracy, I cannot find a girlfriend. That's right! This is all because of the Jews. Because the Jews are scheming away out there, I can't find happiness. Damn you, Jews! I won't forgive you!"

there is certainly a pattern we can observe in societies that become too developed
So far I don't see a solution although like I said the West is in a far worse state as they have other issues beyond this. Its an incredibly low trust diverse society. So it will likely be different for the worst...

Japan could recover in a generation or two especially with AI making it so that smart people can do more work with less people. I don't think America can be fixed or at least all of America I think the best case scenario is America becomes weakened and parts of America like the Midwest/New England or specific city states sort of become the new hubs.

If something like the Great Depression occured today then America would never recover the biggest difference is 100 years ago America had a culture based on more then money. So even if people are starving or in crisis they still felt affinity towards the society. That does not exist anymore. If people were starving or faced genuine poverty they would turn on eachother so fast. Its already this bad in the greatest economy in the world if we turned down the economy 50% then it would be a blood bath.

Maybe something good would come out of the rubble of our society but there never will be an idea of a unified American class again. The American dream is dead forever. I don't feel too bad though the chance for it to be saved was already over before most of us were born. In the 80s-90s it was already on its last legs we are just living on borrowed time.

Even if you could somehow reverse the course and people actively wanted to save America it might be too little too late. Europe and Eastern Europe have slightly more hope although they are still 20 years off from us and their birth rates are more screwy.

Yeah thats the greatest issue society is evolving so fast yet people are the same as they have been for thousands of years. Society in the past was incremental. The first half of the industrial revolution lead to hundreds of millions of people in Europe and Asia dying in wars mass starvation or other manmade disasters.

I believe this filter event will be equally brutal for people maybe in a less obvious way. As soon as we adapt to a new system society is already changing and becoming more complex.

The qoute below sums it up

“Because of our broken instincts we are in pain. We continue in pain because our instincts have been twisted by reason. So, what are we supposed to do? Should we abandon knowledge? Throw away reason? In any event, that wouldn't be possible. For better or worse, we ate the fruit of knowledge long, long ago.”

"Modern concepts such as 'love' and 'romance' have made man, this creature with broken instincts, bury his original nature. It's all a lie, of course. To cover up the deception, mankind has to create still more entirely new concepts. This is why the world becomes increasingly complex with each new day. "However, that complexity cannot hide the various contradictions born from our broken instincts. They create hopelessly fundamental oppositions: words and instinct, ideas and the physical self, reason and sexual desire. These opposing concepts are like two snakes biting at each other's tails. The two snakes constantly are locked in a fierce battle for superiority, so they turn and turn, causing us more and more pain. "

last quote I will post from the novel. I only am posting this to explain our current situations are not unique and are playing out all across the world although to varying degrees and there will of course be different outcomes depending on the society. No society can deal with rapid change or progress without major unintended consequences

The liberal meme of progress being inherently good is a lie. Even objectively good things like ending hunger had very negative effects in the start. Things like industrial farming killed 100 million people while they were implemented at the start.
