I’ve noticed something weird with my jaw and I’m trying to understand what could be causing it. When my jaw is relaxed, my mandible seems to be basically aligned with my maxilla, maybe around 0.2 mm backwards, so pretty much nothing. But when I open my mouth and then close it and bite down again, my mandible seems to go quite a bit backwards compared to where it was at rest. It’s pretty noticeable and I don’t really understand why this happens. Is this normal or could my bite/occlusion be forcing my jaw backwards when I close my mouth? Has anyone had something similar or knows what could be causing it?
