Anyone knows anything about IVRO ? I could not find a lot of info, but basically the mandible is cut in the back part, while in BSSO they cut the posterior part of the bone, so in IVRO you can get a max of 7 degrees decrease in gonial angle, while 2 degrees max in BSSO

Looks like BSSO is much more popular, I want to know if there is any reason for that.

Does this reduce mandible lenght?

If done to correct an underbite, yes
So it can also work by lenghtening the mandible

How is this tequnique different and whyvdoes it reduce downwards growth more than bsso?

I guess that by cutting the bone in it’s anterior part, the surgeon has more room to modify your gonial angle

If its shortening the mandible, thats a bad thing

Advancing maxilla is optimal, right?
But the decrease of gonial angle seems interesting to me.

So, lengething both mandible and maxilla, but even more on maxilla would be the ideal to fix an underbite?

Use your terms correctly

Lengething is vertical growth
Projecting is forward growth

You do not want to lengthen the maxilla, you want to project it forward

But you want both for the mandible. You want a long and forward grown mandible. But its imperative its an upswung mandible (better gonial angle) and not a downswung mandible

I meant that, got the terms mistaken. I thought you were referring to projecting the mandible backwards in first comment. Why would it short the mandible, though?
