I remember reading about this on some forum many GL people are secure in their choices and freely choose people they are actually attracted to, vibe with and love being around instead of status signalling to get the hottest chick/guy aka trophy that would tolerate them. This happens with women too but it's much less common because most women are extremely insecure and even if they liked being with that normie who they vibe with they'll reject him. Obviously we are talking about extremes top <1% here like football superstars and top models. None of this applies to normies
