Jesus taught that belief itself has power—not just as an abstract concept, but as an active force that makes things happen

Jesus highlighted the power of faith (belief) in and of itself, not just as belief in Him, but as a general principle of spiritual power and trust in G-d.

While Jesus often connects belief to Himself (as the way to the Father), He also teaches that belief in God’s power and goodness is itself transformative. The power is in the trust, not just the object of trust. However, in the New Testament, the ultimate object of saving faith is Jesus as the revelation of God.

Therefore, if any person denies this meaning of "belief" and claims it only pertains to believing in Jesus, it doesn't mean that person is a hypocrite, but not well informed. Do not judge the person, period.

TESTAMENT POWER, ACTIVATE!

A few years ago—as spring blossomed—dwarf birds announced their arrival by flying in my face. I went to the shed and retrieved the hummingbird feeder. At the time, I forgot that the glass had frozen during the harsh winter that compromised the integrity of the structure.

After I filled it with what little nectar I had leftover from the prior spring, I hooked it to the out-of-order cabana. I observed the level of feed at less than a quarter of the feeder. The birds came quickly and fed. They appeared to be starving.

Thirty minutes later, I went back outside and saw the nectar gone. I observed the deck, and there was a puddle. I looked back at the feeder and saw a drip coming out of a crooked line in the glass. The thing cracked from the frozen winter.

As the birds continued feeding with what little was left, if any, I felt regret. Shame filled me. I felt stupid for not safeguarding the feeder before the winter.

About ten minutes later, I return to the deck. I sit. I look over at the feeder; the less-than-a-quarter-level amount was back! Not only that, but I was the only person awake during that hour. And I had emptied the bottle into the feeder. Where did this new nectar come from? And why at the same level as before?

Glitch? A tiny miracle? Wasn't just about myself?

I don't think it means you can ask for whatever you want. I think it means that you can ask whatever the Holy Spirit directs you to ask in Jesus's name and it will be done. Just because you believe in Jesus doesn't mean that anything you might ask will be asked in faith.

"The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want."

At that time in our world, people were simple-minded, like children are. Naive about anything. Gullible enough to believe the Roman Empire would protect them in exchange for kissing their sandals and paying taxes. They believed that if they fought back, the Romans would win and kill them all. Britain had proven that belief false the first time the Romans tried to conquer them (55 BC).

I believe Jesus was restricted to what he could say and not say. This is where the metaphors come in. It was a Plato's play, imo. I believe He tried to teach people about belief in itself. The power it has.

I also believe Hercules was the Almighty's first try at understanding us. During that time, it was all about fighting, bloodshed, conquering, honoring real Chads, etc. So like them, his Son would be. But it didn't do much good.

Jesus was the way. This time, people should understand. Unfortunately, they understood too well and murdered him. Imo.

Darkness is real. So what you believe is a fact. But if you're suggesting you believe in sadness, well, that makes no sense.

Have you ever met Baal?
no cuz he's not real its jus religious lore

We all murdered him with our sin. And the Jews of his time were far from naive. Long before he came it had already been written, "There's nothing new under the sun."

That holds just as true today as when Jesus walked the earth and ministered.

Too many impossible things happened in my skeptical life to accept your conclusion. And believe me, I was the worst of the atheists way back then.

If I had been a Jew during his time, and I had witnessed these miracles, I would have followed Him without question. And if He told me not to interfere but to witness his torture and death, I would obey his command. And after he returned to His kingdom, I would have left that town and spread the message, knowing that they would kill me. Why wouldn't I?

If I had been a Roman during his time, and I heard about these miracle rumors, I would investigate them. And if I witnessed such, I would lay down my sword and follow him to death. Why wouldn't I? This is where it gets confusing, though. Why didn't he conquer the entire realm without shedding a drop of blood? Why would anyone not follow him?

Gnostic. I was like that after I read some things from Spinoza. I forgot word for word, but he said if such a supreme being existed, he would be of matter, something you could see with your eyes. And when I looked into the mirror and got a close-up of my eyes, and compared them to planets, suns, and moons, the resemblance was amazing! I had found Him.

Free will. But these spiritual forces you believe in- have you witnessed any evidence?

I bet many of the people who worshipped and accepted him as their king when he rode into Jerusalem thought the same thing. They were expecting him to liberated them and lead them to defeat the Romans. Those same folks probably screamed for his blood whem Pilate offered him or Barabus.

Jesus came to defeat death itself.

But why not tell His followers that they would torture and kill Him later? So He could die for our sins. And where He was resurrected is the portal your soul will seek when your organs go to sleep. Sounds good, imo. But I have a feeling: my soul, smaller than an atom but as large as a planet, will be sucked from tHis Earth like an oyster.

Sometimes I really think you're not of flesh and blood. Too many coincidences in things you've said. I've always had that inclination. You're certainly not an angel so don't try that one again.

As far as that goes the spirits have been tested. I don't know what you are but I know what you're not, so I'll tread carefully. If you're a demon I dont want to know whether or not you fuckers can read our minds unless God wants me to know it, and it's revealed to me in a way that glorifies Him.

If you're a really interesting man then yes, I think he did tell his followers that right after Peter sliced off the guy's ear.

Times have changed. That's all I know about who I am. A change. Whatever that means. But I'm definitely no demon. I would admit to that, for today is so evil, one would take great glory in such damnation.

Punished, I am. For what? Why? No idea.
