Sleep deprivation is way more harmful. Alcohol in moderation isn't the worst thing by a long shot and I don't think it's doing much damage at all when used modestly. Benzodiazepines will fuck you up though, and I know from experience. Only got on them because I have had horrific sleep issues for many years, but the good effects didn't last long and around 4 months ago I accidentally missed a bunch of doses in a row and got sent into severe withdrawal. It was pure hell and I was practically bedridden for a month and even now I'm still messed up. Won't be recovered fully till over a year after I successfully taper off the pill
