Jordan Peterson lost my respect

As I said in my first post, I don't bother writing a scientific paper right now, so I relied on arguments of philosophy, and if you are interested in the science you can simply google it. But I am happy to keep it philosophical, since the question of free will can and has been solved philosophically, without the dependance on scientific experiments.

As a side note, even if quantum physics did play any significant role in our decision making, that says literally nothing about "free will" existing or not. The fact that you even claimed so tells me that you don't understand quantum mechanics nor the scientific literature surrounding determinism.
For every argument of free will not existing, I can find a counter argument for free will existing. I agree that with our current understanding of physics, free will doesn't exist. But if you truly believe that people don't have free will then you're a coping leftist with a defeatist mentality.

I never argued for the existence of God. I only argued for a society that believes in God and is built on God-given values.
you can completely bypass god though, people clearly want certain things for themselves and want to be given some kind of moral consideration, so creating a god character was convenient for controlling people. that doesn’t mean it is necessary.
If a large amount of people need to cope with religion, then how would an atheist society be more prosperous?
i wouldn’t say it’s something people need but it is something people cope with because it is a widespread cope. an atheist society could be more or less prosperous depending on a large number of factors.

i didn’t assert that an atheist society would necessarily be more prosperous either.
You asserted that an atheist society would be equally as prosperous socially as a religious society, but more prosperous in creating innovation than a religious society. Therefore, you did assert that an atheist society would be more prosperous.

I mean, I've read your posts. I know you're not stupid. You know that the response you just typed out isn't intellectually honest.

I mean, simply attempt to consider the fact that if free will were to exist, i.e., the choices you make are not a result of your genetics and environment (i.e., who you are as a person), then that means it is random.

To say that we could turn back time until right before you wrote that post, with every single atom in the exact same spot in the universe, that you would type out something different - that is simply purely illogcal. And even if it were true, then your "free will" would be random, not free.

The reality is that people don't have free will. It doesn't really change my life in any meaningful way, except I have a fuller understanding of why some people become career criminals while others live happy life. Its a combination of environment and genetics. If you can come up with a single factor impacting your decision making which isn't either environment or genetics, both of which you have no control over, there is a Nobel prize coming your way.

The reality is that insisting free will exists is simply refusing to accept the subjective nature of our mind.

Bypassing a God character only works for relatively smart and empathetic people who would behave well whether they believe in God or not. Only a small percentage of the population fits that criteria. Most people would turn to degeneracy, nihilism, and hedonism.

All the historical evidence points to an atheist society being less prosperous at the micro level and eventually at the marco level in the form of genocide, unethical laws, etc.

an atheist society could be more or less prosperous than a religious one it would depend on many different things.
but more prosperous in creating innovation than a religious society.
it could be more or less so again, but i would imagine that a society that isn’t held down by the restrictions of an arbitrary holy book might be able to innovate more.
Therefore, you did assert that an atheist society would be more prosperous.
No i didn’t say that atheist societies necessarily will be more prosperous than religious ones because an atheist society could hypothetically exist in a wasteland and a religious one could exist in a more suitable environment.

It wouldn't mean it's random. It would simply mean that there's some aspect of consciousness and decision-making that we aren't aware of yet that doesn't come down to predictable particles.

Even with the constraints of genetics and environment, you still have free will within a specific boundary. The idea that every single decision and action you have ever made has come down to a predictable reaction of brain chemistry that is predicated on environment and genetics is a philosophical viewpoint at best.

Wait what? How is free will not true? You saying i can't go now and kill random 10 people if i want to?
it's a stupid discussion, don't worry about it

maybe they would maybe they wouldn’t? this isn’t even an argument, what are you saying? is degeneracy when people do things you dislike or find gross? this is a very vague term. some people believe in nihilism or hedonism.

the world is less religious now that is has ever been before and we live in the most simultaneously prosperous and peaceful times.

We're only prosperous and peaceful at the macro level. Every western civilization is still run on judeochristian values.

Abortion kills tens of millions of babies every year. Hypergamy and dissolvement of monogamy are the reason we are all on this forum. Marxist ideology is on the rise which takes away all economic and social mobility. A significant percentage of kids are being raised in single parent households. Crime rates in democrat-run (atheist) cities has skyrocketed. I'm sure we can both look at those and say that they are objectively degenerate things.

We're only more prosperous because of technology. If we had both technology and religious values, we would be much better off.

[1] If you aren't aware of it, how are you exerting free will? Free will means that you consciously choose to do whatever you want to do, free of influence.

[2] But again, how would that work? If you're exercising free will which is not based on the parimeters that makes you who you are (genetics & environment), how is it free? If your genetics and environment tell you that you are heterosexual, but you suddently start acting homosexual, how is that free will? We act according to the factors that influence who we are, just as with the rest of the universe as a whole.

@TsarTsar444

Lets assume you did go out and kill 10 people - then that would be a result of your genetics and environment spurring you to do it. If the triggering factor was reading this forum, then that too was out of your control.

simple minded reasoning ngl

it’s weird to mash judaism and christianity together in this way when they are different in very key ways. but the bible happens to contain commandments that say things like “don’t steal or kill” but people naturally don’t like being killed or stolen from so it makes sense that they would write that into the fairytale. people are less religious now than they have ever been, and we are more prosperous and simultaneously peace now than ever before.

i don’t know if i’m necessarily against abortion.
Hypergamy and dissolvement of monogamy are the reason we are all on this forum.
Possibly? There are lots of guys here that are good looking or could get sex, amnesia and arvid rot here for whatever reason. there’s many reasons why we are here.
Crime rates in democrat-run (atheist) cities has skyrocketed.
even if this were true can you prove that that is necessarily due to atheism?deep south hyper christian republican states drain welfare money and do incest quite a lot but i am not going to say it is necessarily because of christianity, there are larger socioeconomic reasons than religion.

[1] Obviously there are going to be external influences. The point is that you have free will within a set of parameters. Within that set of parameters, you can consciously choose to do whatever you want. Just because we have factors that influence us, doesn't mean that we don't have the free will to make decisions outside of those factors. If I want to go to the gym right now, I could go. Obviously being tired and lazy would influence that decision, but your consciousness has the ability to override that influence, despite being hard to do. Personal accountability is hard. Denying free will is denying personal accountability.

[2] Homosexuality is definitely not genetic JFL. You're falling for leftist science that caters to ideology. There are absolutely 0 instances of homosexuality in animals. Homosexuality couldn't have evolved as they don't reproduce.

Exactly my point. When looking at the world from a completely secular stance, you can agree with morally evil things because you have nothing to stop you from doing so. There's no way you can argue in favor of abortion being acceptable from an moral standpoint, only from a viewpoint of convenience. Science disregards human morality, therefore laws can quickly fall down a slippery slope if they don't have a religious backbone to stay on. Look at eugenics and genocide in Nazi Germany. We can all say it was morally evil, but in their view it was convenient and therefore they did it.

On the basis of the bible, people have free will. Telling poor people they have no free will to get out of their situation and they shouldn't be personally accountable for themselves is against judeochristian teachings. Also, single motherhood laws encourage women to have kids out of wedlock which only creates more crime and more poverty.

In a Darwinian society, we would revert to basic human nature, which is mass hypergamy (1/17 men reproduce). The only way to take care of the children in a modern society would be through men funding them in a socialist system. Once the ugly men have to work despite not being able to reproduce, they will not want to work and then the government will have to force them and become an authoritarian communist system. Secularism doesn't work in modern societies as the basis for human behavior is made strictly on Darwin's values and they cannot be prosperous at mass scale.

it depends on what your moral system is? obviously no one believes that their moral stances are immoral, and you couldn’t possibly prove there is an objective moral code.

science is just a word that we use to refer to methods by which we arrive to truth claims about the universe. also slippery slope is literally a fallacy.
also i don’t know that nazi germany was an atheist country, but passages in the bible condone slavery and god does some pretty fucked up shit in that book.
On the basis of the bible, people have free will.
if you can’t prove that the bible is true and that all of it’s claims are necessarily accurate than i don’t care, really.
Telling poor people they have no free will to get out of their situation and they shouldn't be personally accountable for themselves is against judeochristian teachings.
i don’t care if it goes against judeochristian teachings. judeochristian teachings are based on a god that can’t be proven or demonstrated so i have no reasons to care about violating their teachings. from a very simple human perspective though, you can encourage people to get out of negative situations if you wanted do, and if that appeared to have a good effect on society then you could do that. there’s no reason to pretend god is real to do that though.
Also, single motherhood laws encourage women to have kids out of wedlock which only creates more crime and more poverty.
i didn’t advocate for single motherhood laws.
In a Darwinian society, we would revert to basic human nature
what is a darwinian society? darwinian evolution is just an observed phenomena. darwinian evolution is more likely than not the reason humans even exist.
The only way to take care of the children in a modern society would be through men to funding them in a socialist system. Once the ugly men have to work despite getting no pussy, they will not want to work and then the government will have to force them and become an authoritarian communist system.
at this point i don’t even know what you’re talking about, you are just making assertions about things and claiming we will necessarily end up at authoritarian communism somehow.

Yup, the likes of Jordan Peterson, Paul Joseph Watson, Joe Rogan, etc are gatekeepers for Jewish power. They bash Islam and Muslims 24/7 but they have nothing to say about Jews like the good little goyim they are.
