last week i got a new client; nothing special, just a biker kid, seemingly low class, impulsive and fucking retarded, with a traffic accident ... from the second he came in, i was thinking (based on his appearance and my initial assessment of his mannerisms): "not another retard you can't even communicate with for an unprofitable case, why did i even choose this job"
by the end of the next working day, i've had a 3-page word doc with every possible detail from the accident on my mail since he'd written it immediately after it, while his memory was still fresh. obviously, this all implies it wasn't his fault and i'll have next to 0 work to do defending him
i've made the mistake of underrating people before, starting from elementary school, and i remember every single one of them like it was some massive sin
i'm just typing this here because i'm happy i managed to conceal my misjudgement till the moment he handed me his notes (literally no one does this, maybe 0.03% of people who come to lawyers for help; 90% just tell you half-truths and you can't tell what's true till the main hearing is over at best), i'd feel so bad if if didn't manage to do it
