Long midface only looks bad if it's horse long and you have no redeeming features to go along with it. Similarly, while a short face is compact, does not mean it looks good (if anything, it looks stunted most of the time). Not to mention on this "long midface" in the OP it couples perfectly with his zygos placement whereas more compact may look worse with those bones.

They honestly accentuate it very well. I for one find Zygos pretty overrated (since I think it's Jaw > Eyes > Colouring/Skin > Cheekbones) but on faces that have wider cheekbones than lower third by a decent margin, they are an incredible halo.

think men can get away with long midface to a greater extent, just as they can get away with neutral canthal tilt. when we see long face freaks its either EXTREMELY long or there is no facial development to compliment it. this guy has good facial width and bone development eg zygos chin maxilla etc. long midface just makes a boneless face look awful

There's a fine line between a long midface, and a horse face.

As with everything in looks, its only a matter of mere millimeters.
