I feel it is important for the younger gamers to understand that we're at a point where newer isn't automatically better. Technology doesn't mean better. In fact, technology and complexity can also make new games worse. When we first got 3D acceleration in the late 90s, it was better.
When floating point math a became fast enough to do good physics models for the first time in the early 2000s, things got better. But since then, smooth framerates and physics have been done, and won't automatically become better on newer hardware.
