This idea has been brewing for a while now of doing filler on my lips. If i do it I'll probably just pay an injector but just for fun today I decided to try it with bacteriostatic water. Doing just one side. note: I didn't get any photos because the liquid is absorbed quite fast.
I decided to use the technique of inserting the needle right above the vermillion boarder and going downward into the bottom of the lip, as illustrated in the image.

I was able to create a reasonable increase in volume although the trend seemed to be lumpy, It's possible that the needle was too superficial but obviously I'm not experienced with this.
For anyone with experience around lip filler, is there any risk other than the filler blocking an artery causing necrosis? To my knowledge nerve damage is uncommon around the lip area so it seems like a pretty safe diy.

One thing I learned from this experience is how that signature "duck lips" look is created when too much filler is placed. It definitely caused some forward projection of my vermillion boarder. Does anyone know how to avoid this?

Edit: also bacteriostatic water lowkey hurts like a bitch lol
