Because you were nervous around her the first time. Girls are finely tuned for being able to pick up on that shit.

Every girl can sense when you're nervous and bumbling around on your own head.

She knows you looked at her like that because you really like her and just want to pretend otherwise, in order to maintain your dignity for not being able to talk to her comfortably. Its what guys like you do when they feel like a deer in the headlights and don't want their faces to continue to betray them. Do you really think you're the first guy who's looked at her that way for that reason?

no, the main way to prevent this is to not confront them head on, be slight off center, turn your head to look at them, like your nipples are lasers, if your sitting you can lean back away from her, this will keep her anxiety low

I've always felt live is very sweet despite all the hardships.

Maybe it's impossible to be totally content but philosophers just seem to be a great deal more miserable than most folk. Hiding behind their stoicism.
