Just turned 14. Could an orthodontist help me or is it late?

First of all, I want to say that I will of course get a professionals opinion, just want to get a rough idea here.

The biggest problem is that I have a moderately(?) recessed lower jaw. I also have a narrower palate than the ideal.

Is there anyway to fix lower jaw recession at this age without stunting maxilla growth? (My maxilla seems pretty forward grown right now, not really recessed)

And how can I even convince both my parents and the ortho to get an expander? Nobody would give me an expander just because my palate is not ideal or something

I also jut my jaw forward basically all the time, even when I’m alone. Is this harmful? I hate the feeling when I bite down.

My teeth are straight and nicely aligned naturally with a few exceptions. If the ortho decides to give me braces for any reason, could it recess my maxilla like some people say?

Maybe it’s too late and I gotta start saving up for bimax. Sorry I couldn’t provide photos nor measurements, I’d be happy to answer questions, thanks.

Yes, I’ll definitely tell them about it. No way I’m getting a camouflage treatment. Though, is it really possible to fully avoid maxilla recession, with HERBST for example?
ohhh I just read the message, yeah I have the same issue it’s easy fix , ur narrow palate is not allowwing ur lower jaw to move forward, so for u at ur age, one of the best fixes to this and this is what im going to do soon since I also have the same issue, just waiting for my parents to believe me when I say I have troubles breathing, so u get a palate expander, MASPE/MSE, no other type, and u get bite blocks, after expansion the upper jaw is wide enough for the lower jaw to start moving forward, considering ur 14 after 1-2 years of expansion and bite...
Post photos for better advice but in almost every case orthos will help. It’s more so about convincing your parents because an ortho would do that if they’re getting paid. And don’t jut if it hurts.

Look into what you want and ask your parents. You’re still young enough that it’ll make a good difference

No like I just feel uncomfortable physically when I close my jaw naturally and not jut. How do I find a good ortho, what do I look for?

Yeah that’s what I thought. It’s just that information on the net is misleading asf. Some say 12 is the last chance to fix lower jaw without surgery. Yea thanks I’ll try to find a good ortho asap

tho this could be true, if ur bone age, not ur calendar age, is 14 similar to ur calendar age, this may not be possible, depends

it shouldn’t be hard, go to an ortho, tell him the pain / feeling u are feeling and where, if he instantly cant find a problem or solution to the problem, u will get a cbct scan and he can check for any recessions and will help u fix it, tho when he asks or tells u, tell him I want to only push my lower jaw front, because he probably will offer u braces + rubber bands which pulls the maxilla backwards and the lower jaw forwards, which we 10000000% don’t want that

The bite blocks will guide ur lower jaw back and wearing it during expansion will guide it forward, so lower jaw forward growth
Oh also, u said earlier its a lower jaw recession, not a maxilla recession, a maxilla recession is much different
can u atleast give me solution?, click the checkmark beside my message, ty:love:

I didn’t really know a narrow palate could lead to jaw recession, I’ll do my research thanks
