Can anyone of you justify why nationalism is inherently irrational or silly ? i'm being serious when i say this i haven't heard of or even seen ANY form of nationalism justified (can any of you show me). The few ''justifications'' i've seen are just appeals to emotions

''ah bro look how beautiful the motherland is''

if anything the beauty of the environment should be i call for environmentalism and not plain selfishness, but whatever.

pride in the culture,
why would you hold pride in culture ? makes no sense too me. Nobody chooses what culture their brought into aside from various cultures in which to do choose to associate with such as emo, punk, hippie (although thats mostly dead).

''we need an emo ethno state so that we can raise our emo children''
''Ja, us dutch surfers need our own state so that we can express our culture and our oneness with, we must separate church and beach''

pride in the superiority
what metric is being used to measure a given cultures superiority ? once again you didn't choose the culture and if you did it foolish to pride your self in the ''superiority'' which you didn't cultivate or create

You were raised, also culture defines a nation/community actions. It's not chosen but you are still allowed to feel pride in being apart of it. Nationalism at its core is just a sense of belonging, inate in all humans.

i dont know why you would but yeah you are allowed (no your not and matter fact im sending TEN idf drones to your city).Would it not be more rational to be prideful in actions you committed as a collective or as a individual?

but than again i dont know you so maybe you dont take pride in history (or maybe you do).

also the marriam webster defines culture as

the beliefs, customs, arts, etc. of a particular social group, place, or time

but i see what your getting at and i (hopefully understand your point, your view of culture aligns with 1e so i get what your saying)

What do you mean? Nationalism is just a pride of a shared community/culture/location etc. We value those things as it gives us a sense of belonging and security.

people are irrational. and the pride doesn't necessarily come from a sense of accomplishment i think, but rather a sense of belonging, of being apart of something.

I don't but then again, i can understand people who feel pride (pride, in terms of a sense of belonging rather than accomplishment) in their community/nation.
