wouldn’t know, not a foid, but longest day in Changan had some cool historically accurate armor, clothing and set pieces

There is three kingdoms 2010 which can be pretty good

Rookie agent Rouge is a spy thriller set in Republican China during the Japanese invasion; I saw it back when it was on Netflix

Chinese make a lot of historical dramas. I might try them despite preferring modern dramas.

Only good stuff to come out of China is from HK or Taiwan. From the mainland there's only crappy period dramas (three kingdoms era type sh*t) with gaudy makeup and ridiculous magic.

It has its charms, good looking actors without being focused on relationships, good spy tension, fun villainous Japanese

As an overseas Chinese I appreciated seeing the subtle Communist view of the Republic being communicated, what they saw as its merits and its foibles and its tragedies

The Chinese Communists are sympathetic to Christianity and to the patriotic elite of the old regime, which to me was very interesting

Though perhaps not surprising as the Communists ended up in a Christian / Muslim frontier stronghold in the northwest during the civil war, and Christianity itself is rather Communist in its early form
